Now that Windows Vista has become a rage, it seems like the Windows fraternity is in for the winds of change. Although Vista has been accepted as the new norm, the problems associated with the same are also on the rise. The good side about these Vista problems is that (yeah, I did say the ‘good side’!) most of the problems can be solved pretty easily.

Vista problems – Cause and Rectification

The rush to upgrade from a previous version of Windows to the Windows Vista Home Basic and Premium editions gives some error messages which might seem like the starting of your Vista problems (right from step 1!). Here are some problems and their rectification:

    Vista problem 1

This happens when you try to skip a step and, in the process, you end up in a bigger mess. The upgrade from Windows XP to the Vista genre should be done only after upgrading Windows XP to, at least, Service Pack 2 (SP2). It is highly recommended that the Microsoft’s Vista Upgrade Advisor be installed prior to upgrading the operating system. Make sure that hardware and software, including the antivirus, are compatible. If not, the installation program can go to a freeze.

          Vista problem 2

The Vista edition has the inbuilt hierarchy of file and folder permissions which is different from its predecessors. Windows Vista Home editions feature different folder structures and file permissions. Users that are not allowed permission to certain files and folders must adjust their ‘read and write’ settings. Some files may be encrypted. They require an encryption certificate to decipher them.

The location of the common folder is now changed from “>Documents and Settings>user name>My Documents” in windows XP to “>Users>username>Documents”.

vista problems fixed

           Vista problem 3

The devices connected through USB should have drivers that are compatible with Windows Vista. Any incompatibilities that would have occurred while using such a device can be viewed from the Control Panel. It would sometimes be found that, band limit or power is not sufficient enough. In such cases it might be required to connect the USB device directly into the port and not to the hub.

Hence all these common Vista problems can be easily taken care by following these simple steps making your experience with Vista a much better one.

Launched with an aim of providing the best security and privacy, its numerous blunders made the life of gullible users miserable. It failed miserably to live up to the expectations and standards set by previous versions.

Inspite of its rocky journey, Vista does have some advantages, but Vista problems don’t do anything to endear the already frustrated user.

Imagine Vista problems during installation. Ouch! That hurts! Luckily, it has some quick fixes. But if you just got the operating system, you really don’t have a choice, do you? You have to make do with it. So how can you get rid of Vista problems at installation?

Vista problems with damaged disc

If it takes longer than expected to complete the installation, it’s likely that your Vista problem is due to a damaged disc. Your system may not be able to read the disc due to dust, dirt or scratches in the disc. So always ensure you keep it clean and neat. Clean with a dry smooth cloth and try installing it now; you can bid adieu to your Vista problems.

Vista problems with installation? Blame the product key

Forget to enter the product key and get ready for some Vista problems. This key, a multi digit code that notifies your OS that you own a legal version, comes with documentation in the installation disc. When you encounter Vista problems with installation next time, make sure you enter the product key. Go to ‘My Computers’ and right click to select ‘Properties.’ Scroll down to bottom and hit ‘Change Product key’ option and enter the code. This should take care of your issue if it’s related to your product key.

Your drivers can sometimes be the cause of your Vista problems without your knowledge. Devices like mouse, keyboard and printers may immediately stop working when you install Vista. To kick this Vista problem, check whether they are out dated and download the latest updated version.

Vista may have been a bad choice, but it is not unmanageable. Take some care and you should be rid of all your Vista problems.
